It is no more than 2 hours in each direction to anywhere on the peninsula and 3 hours from Anchorage. On the Kenai Peninsula there are countless activities to do including guided fishing, guided sightseeing adventures, and exploring on your own. Most people spend at least 4-5 days to have enough time to enjoy our area, while others spend up to several weeks really soaking in what the area has to offer.
Our property Alaska Silvertip Lodge and Cabins is located just under 5 miles from Soldona’s town center on the Sterling side of town. That means that grocery stores, restaurants, sports stores, and many of the other shops one would need or want are close by. The location of our Soldotna lodging makes it an easy place to stay and enjoy the Kenai Peninsula, whether staying close by or exploring to another town nearby.

Activities In Soldotna Area
Even closer is river fishing, river rafting, ocean fishing, biking, golf, frisbee golf, hiking, bear viewing, sightseeing on own, visitor centers, breweries, good places to eat, shopping, and anything you would want to do in a decent sized town. This zone is things to do within 45 mins of town (Cooper Landing & Deep Creek), but some are only a 10 minute drive (Sterling, Soldotna). People lodging in Soldotna Alaska love how close everything is! In one day you can fill it with multiple activities and use the many hours of daylight we have or take it slow and smell the roses.
The best part is that there are so many things to do that there is something for everyone! You can not go wrong with Silvertip Lodge and Cabins when looking for lodging in Soldotna Alaska! We have just under 9 acres of quiet, private land off the main highway, nestled back in old growth birch and spruce forest. It makes for a quiet, serene environment where you feel totally relaxed and “in Alaska” while having access to the town of Soldotna.
Day Trips To Homer, Seward, or Girdwood
Many of our guests explore from Seward to Homer to Girdwood on day trips and enjoy activities like whale watching, ocean fishing, kayaking, hiking, sightseeing, and great food & shopping. All these locations are under 2 hours from Soldotna and very easy to get to. This makes exploring for a day trip very simple and stress free.
In Seward, which is north of Soldotna, people often add the whale / glacier / wildlife tour to their itinerary with us. While in Seward you can also visit the Sealife Center, Exit Glacier, enjoy ziplining, and there are plenty of hikes along the way. Seward is definitely a place to spend a day while you are in our area.
Homer is a town south of Soldotna where a fair amount of our ocean fishing guests frequent, unless they opt for the closer option of Deep Creek which has its advantages as well. The Homer Spit is an iconic area to walk, eat, shop, and enjoy the magnificent views of the area. People also hike via water taxi, kayak, and relax in this quaint little town.
Girdwood is an awesome mountain town where people visit on the way to or from us as you pass it between Anchorage and Soldotna. Our guests tend schedule the Spencer Iceberg / Placer River Float and you get a short train ride with this trip. Alyeska Resort has a tram you can take up the mountain along with plenty of hiking in the area. The wildlife conservation center is also a good place to spend a few hours.
